Hailing from Haida Gwaii, BC, Carsen Gray is indigenous (Haida) and mixed descent and is no stranger to a life of art, music, and entertainment. With Sense of It All, the intention was always to make music we love and I can guarantee we accomplished that! 'Alone Tonight' was produced with Mutt Lange's style of production––specifically his work with Shania Twain––in mind, with the intention of achieving the big sound that defines country music of the late 90s/early 2000s." Listen below. We set out to make an album of music, featuring an incredible group of international musicians, that felt organic and sonically spacious. Sense of It All features songs that reach every edge of the country music genre from blues to rock to folk and back, tied together by my southern rock/soul-styled vocals. It was then that I contacted Ashton and expressed my desire to produce a full EP, with 'Alone Tonight' going on to become the first single. However, in 2019, I played some live full band gigs featuring all of my original music. The lead single, 'Alone Tonight', has prompted recent listeners to describe Christine as "Country Celine Dion." Christine has this to say about the song and the EP: "'Alone Tonight' was written a couple years ago and made into a very minimal demo with my producer, Ashton Corey, as somewhat of a side project. She spent a large majority of 2020 recording and producing her debut EP, Sense of It All, out March 5. She began writing more original music, performing solo gigs throughout the city, and found success as a singer in the party band circuit in the tri-state area. Upon her return to New York City, Christine hit the ground running with her music career. After college, she booked a contract as a principal vocalist on Viking Ocean Cruises and spent 2017 exploring the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas by day and performing musicals and cabarets for guests by night. Christine then moved to New York City to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre at Marymount Manhattan College where she studied with Broadway legends and honed her craft as a singer and actress. While living in Park City, Utah during her high school years, Christine Baird had the opportunity to be the lead vocalist in the bands the Crescent Super Band and the Soul Research Foundation. I do like the concept of course, but if you’re gonna do a heavy metal concept then do it for a heavy metal song that is about being heavy metal □. Come on BBC, this was your ONE chance to do this song well, and you pretty much ignored what the song is actually about. That seems to be a trend though, if something is a genre other than pop or middle of the road, no matter the lyrics the concept of the dance is that genre, and not specific to the song. I mean, I did, it was heavy metal, there was a flaming guitar, it was great, but I think personally for the song Enter Sandman, there was such a wide open opportunity for a dream/nightmare concept, but it was almost like they ignored the lyrics of the song and thought “heavy metal song = heavy metal concept”. Also, another thing just for me, I didn’t like the concept of the dance. Obvious things he needed better shaping while in frame, some sharper dynamics would have been nice, but omg he got the DRAMA so well! You could tell he was fully embracing and loving every moment of it □. Her dancing was a 30 but the choreo wasn’t a 30, I think that’s what I’m trying to say □. Had the same thing been done in a latin dance the judges definitely would have said she needed to be given more challenging choreo, cos lifts, a few difficult break dance moves then a lot of simple “slide to the right criss cross” I don’t feel like is enough for what she’s capable of. The lifts were difficult definitely, but about half of the dance was something I just don’t think is perfect score worthy choreo. With it being a CC there’s no major technical moves that the judges are looking for, so for what it was she danced it perfectly, but I just feel like she could have been given something more challenging. There was definitely good technical sections, but then just constant interruptions of very simple moves that any old bugger could pull off. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, the dance she was doing. It was great, it was perfect, yes, Maisie is a brilliant dancer and she did everything perfectly. Maisie and Gorka (Couple’s Choice) - Maybe you all know what I’m about to say cos with Maisie I can be predictable but I’ll say it anyway, this was good.
